A parable of the Pure Land

A house caught fire as its owner slept inside. The woman, believing herself dreaming, did not untangle herself from bed until her blankets themselves had ignited. A neighbor saw the conflagration and phoned the fire department. Waking to uncertainty of what to do, the woman, who in sleep had been imagining her dead husband, began to scream his name.
